A new issue of Charlie Hebdo has been published, with a three million print run.

THIS IS THE COVER OF the new issue of Charlie Hebdo. You have the democratic right to see it and to form an opinion on it. You have the right to agree with it. You have the right to disagree with it.

I personally will always reject the view that people are too ignorant and unsophisticated to form their own judgement and must be protected from hearing certain views - or images - by people 'who know better', be they on the right or the left of the political spectrum.

I certainly will not accept the religious dogma of those obscurantists that places the so-called prophet Mohammed beyond criticism. That road leads to the murder of journalists and cartoonists and the sentencing of Raif Badai, a young Saudi blogger, to 1,000 lashes for "insulting Islam". Three days ago he received the first fifty lashings.
